How to Choose Your Next Watch

by Ariel Adams

When selecting a timepiece, there are no shortage of appealing shapes and sizes to choose from. Your suit and shoes don’t do enough to tell people who you are. A man is framed by what he wears—and your style can begin or end on your wrist. A watch resides on your arm as a beacon of taste, personality, and of course success. A timepiece can communicate who you are or merely accent what you already project. Choose a watch with the right shape to fit the man you are (or want to be).

Geometeric Watches

Watches-2

Sitting between square and circle, the geometric case is one of the most “alternative” watch shapes you can find, available as octagons, decagons, or other shapes that eschew the notion of “round.” These are best matched with all manners of non-conservative dress for the design lover. Try one with a strap for formal attire and a bracelet for more casual outfits.

Hermès – The Acreau Watch

by Time&Style Staff

Hermès is enriching their Acreau line with two new models of the line originally designed by Henry d’Origny in 1978.  The two new models, the Acreau Ecuyère for laides and the Acreau Automatique for men, are designed to maximize elegance and comfort.

The Acreau Automatique features a rose gold case that has a diameter of 45mm designed to maintain the harmony of it’s proportions.

The Acreau Ecuyère, for women, is driven by a Manufacture movement made by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier.  The line comes in six varieties; one in gem-set steel, two in rose gold, and two in gem-set rose gold with a matt blue, havana or black alligator strap.  There is also a limited edition rose gold version of the piece that will be crowned by 74 rose-cut diamonds and a natural mother-of-pearl dial.  Only one hundred of the limited edition anniversary pieces will be made available.

Hermès Arceau Pocket Amazones

by Time&Style Staff

Inspired by the motif of a tie designed by Henri d’Origny, the Arceau Pocket Amazones exalts the spirit of the Maison Hermès through centuries-old hand-crafted expertise: grand feu enamelling, along with the miniature painting and paillonné (spangled) techniques.

Gracefully swept over by a pair of hands, the paillonné enamel dial highlights
the elegance of the mounts and their riders. The smallest details of the coat
of the horse and that of the horsewoman riding side-saddle, give vibrant life to the scene. The delicate nuances and the interplay of light and shade endow it with
a vitality that only an experienced master-enameller can reveal by perfectly mastering the successive firings of the enamels at a temperature of around 800°C. Gold spangles delicately applied one by one during the enamelling process carpet the ground with a shimmering radiance, lending exceptional depth to this depiction.

The timeless Arceau Pocket Amazones embodies the very essence of the Hermès style. The nobility it exudes bears eloquent testimony to the historical know-how cultivated by the House. The emblematic upper attachment, inspired by the equestrian world and imagined in 1978 by Henri d’Origny, is bridled by a hand-sewn alligator strap. Behind the scenes, the Manufacture calibre H1928 trots steadily and accurately, and its manually chamfered and polished finishes, along with the solid gold oscillating weight adorned with a cavalry of “H” letters, are visible through the sapphire crystal case-back.
