Rado D-Star Basel Special 2011

by Time&Style Staff
This limited edition model pays tribute to the Rado DiaStar, which was released in 1962 and was the first scratch-proof watch on the market. The updated version combines a matte black ceramic casing with a rubber strap, lending the watch a sporty tone. The watch, which is still scratch-proof, is waterproof down to 100 metres and has a tachymeter scale around the outside of the face, which is a handy feature for all your underwater measuring needs. This model, which is being made specially for the annual Baselworld watch and jewellery show in Switzerland, is limited to 1,111 pieces.

Rado: r5.5 XXL Chronograph

by Time&Style Staff

Industrial designer Jasper Morrison is known for keeping his work simple but elegant, and he continues that with the newly designed r5.5 XXL Chronograph. A beefed-up version of Rado’s original r5.5, the larger model offers an extra size quartz chronograph movement. There’s a choice of the platinum matt version, which is highlighted by yellow hands on the sleek platinum dial, and the matt black version, which incorporates white hands to contrast the minimalist ceramic casing. As always with the r5.5, the face of the watch blends seamlessly into the bracelet, giving sophistication to a watch with a sporty touch.
